Jim believes he got them a week off work, but Dwight reveals he has gotten them a new workspace for the week, a bus. He achieves making Dwight believe the electromagnetic radiation caused it to occur and finally scares Dwight when Jim tells him it may cause infertility. He puts a popcorn bag in the microwave and only pops one kernel before placing it under Dwight's desk. Pam makes a comment about how she would love a week off work and Jim immediately sets off to work on achieving this. Dwight argues that in order to insulate the wires they would have to open the walls and close the office building down for a week. The office staff are still angry at Dwight for caring more about money than about their own safety. She asks Andy if he is willing to help her out by writing a character reference, but Andy rejects her, still hating her for what she did to him. Nellie is looking eagerly to fulfill her lifelong dream of adopting a child. Jim meanwhile is being extremely nice to Pam due to her being supportive of Jim wanting to go to Philadelphia to work with his friend on their new business. Dwight scoffs at needing to insulate the wires, stating that he refuses to do so because it is too costly. Toby and Erin are testing for electromagnetic field hotspots around the office due to non-insulated wiring and they find many spots, which they mark with red tape. The office staff begin to chant "Fail! Fail!" at Andy to which he eventually gets angry and leaves.
In retaliation Jim pulls up a video of Andy trying to carry the full water cooler, which ends with Andy falling down and spilling the water all over himself. The video consists of the staff doing whatever was considered normal and Andy making vulgar noises over it. While the staff are initially excited they soon realize it is Andy's horrible attempt to engage in the internet craze of making a "fail video". I remember when we were six.Andy presents the office staff a video compilation of the team's softball season. She wheeled in here about 20 minutes ago, and it was her dream, from the time she was young, to write a recap of a hit HBO show. Oh, guys? I forgot to mention my cousin Margaret helped me write this recap. I don’t know about you, Margaret, but I thought this episode set up a lot of interesting things to come in the near future. This would probably be a good time for Hannah to tell Adam about her cousin, Margaret, with the disease? You know, the one from Caroline’s story two scenes ago? The episode ends with Hannah taking Margaret to the senior prom. She tries, kegels even, to squeeze a lone tear out of her eye for David’s untimely death, but gives herself the "tried to fake cry" headache instead. Caroline deems her "so fucked up," and I mean, yeah. Adam saved up all his money and made this little girl’s dream come true, wheeling her on to the dance floor and showing her a night she would never forget.
It’s more enjoyable if you imagine them dancing without music, which is what actually happened.Ĭaroline tests Hannah’s will to not feel by telling a Lifetime Movie Network sob story about Margaret, their sick cousin whose only wish was to go to the school dance. (But, like, for blogs.) "Those are a bunch of jealous people who make a living appealing to our basest desire to see each other kicked while we’re down." Hannah is firmly pro-Gawker/Jez, while Adam takes the flip side, basically comparing it to the shit sewer Andy Dufresne had to crawl through in The Shawshank Redemption. (There are hundreds more.) So that Lena would even be big enough to namedrop these sights is already impressive, I’ll admit. The most obvious reference would of course be Jezebel’s recent offering of $10,000 for un-retouched pics of Lena Dunham in Vogue, but other examples can be found here, here and here. Hannah reads both Gawker and Jezebel, two sites that, IRL, are notoriously pretty terrible to Lena Dunham. Before we delve into this next scene, I need you to get your META WORLD PEACE jerseys on, because shit is about to get SELF-REFERENTIAL:
We know this because it’s on Gawker, a site which Hannah reads. She adds a banana.ĭavid committed suicide by Chelsea Piers.
